For homeowners in England
Check the planning constraints around an English property.
Home Plan Check screens six common public records around an English property before you spend money on detailed advice for an extension, loft conversion or garden building.
This is an initial information screen, not a planning-permission prediction or a complete property clearance.
What the check covers
We screen Planning Data records for conservation areas, listed buildings, Green Belt, flood risk zones, Article 4 direction areas and tree preservation zones. Coverage varies by dataset and place: a missing result does not confirm that no restriction applies.
Important limits
The service does not assess planning history, restrictive covenants, site conditions, structural feasibility, detailed local policy, permitted development or whether planning permission will be granted. Flood zones show river-and-sea flood probability, not a property-level flood forecast.
How it works
- Choose an English address.
- Tell us whether you are considering an extension, loft conversion, garden building or simply checking a property.
- Review sourced records in plain English and decide what to check next with the local authority or a professional.
JavaScript is required to select an address and run the interactive check. You can still read the data and limitation notes.
